Place the mouse pointer over the word "Options" at the top of the screen, click and hold with the left mouse button. Drag downward until a menu option is highlighted and let go of the left mouse button. In most cases a dialog box will appear that prompts you for further input and provides necessary instructions. Note that the menu options are also accessible using shortcut keystrokes. The functions of the menu options are outlined in the table below.

Preferences... - opens the Preferences dialog box which controls all advanced program settings. Netscape Preferences are complex. The default settings are probably OK for you, but you may need to make some changes. Students should not alter program Preferences.
Show Toolbar - this option toggles the display of the Netscape Toolbar on and off. Checked indicates on.
Show Location - this option toggles the display of the Location Bar on and off. Checked indicates on.
Show Directory Buttons - this option toggles the display of the Netscape Directory Buttons on and off. Checked is on.
Auto Load Images - this option governs the display of graphics images during load. Checked means images will load. Unchecked prevents images from being loaded until they are called for in the View PullDown menu Load Images option.
Show FTP File Information - displays FTP file transfer status. This is handy when you are transferring files from a remote site. Checked is on.
Save Options - saves all the currently selected program options to disk so that they will be in effect in every session.
