Rule 4:  Keep the User in Mind.

  • Keep the low-end user in mind.

  • Make sure you give them what they came here expecting or they won't be back.

  • Make sure your page is printable or provide a printable format or simple text option.

  • Limit graphics or provide alternative low- or no-graphics pages.

  • Use the alt= tag on all images to provide information if the user has turned off inline images.

  • Providing image dimensions will make your pages load faster and allow your alt= tags to display.

  • Do everything you can to limit your page's loading time - you have 15 seconds.

  • Use multiple small files vs. one big indexed HTML file.

  • Don't use upper-end or browser-specific HTML code, JAVA applets or frames, unless absolutely necessary.
