Rule 1:  Keep It Simple Stupid.

  • Remember:   Simplicity is elegance.   and   Brevity is the soul of wit.

  • Keep things on a single page and "above the fold" if possible.

  • Provide adequate navigation aids.

  • Don't use too many colors or fonts.

  • Don't use unnecessary graphics, especially animated graphics.

  • Don't display or link to resources that require the user to install additional browser plug-ins or external applications.

  • Don't use any stupid HTML, JAVA or FRAMES tricks. - Intelligent ones are OK though.

  • Don't play background music without asking your user first.

  • Don't embed or include external files unless they are absolutely necessary.
