1996 - Election to Beta Phi Mu by the members of the North Carolina
   Chapter.

1992 - Letter of Commendation for outstanding public service to the
   Forsyth County Public Library from Ms. Barbara L. Anderson,
   Reference Department Head.

1992 - Golden Eagle Team Award received from Mr. James Johnston,
   President of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, for building and
   leading a "Total Quality First" team which designed, developed
   and implemented the "FirstBASE" interface to all internal
   databases operating under BASISPlus and MACCS II database
   management software.

1987 - Award for Technical Achievement granted by the Peer Review
   Committee of the Bowman Gray Technical Center, R. J. Reynolds
   Tobacco Company, Winston-Salem, NC, with recommendation for
   elevation to the rank of Master Literature Scientist.

1979 - First Place - International Online Search Tournament, sponsored
   by Biological Abstracts at the Online F79 Conference in Atlanta, GA.

1978 - Election to Sigma Xi by the Faculty of the University of
   Delaware.

1978 - Certificate of Commendation for Excellence in teaching,
   research, and public service presented by the Dean of the College
   of Marine Studies of the University of Delaware.

1972 - Letter of Commendation for outstanding public service presented
   by the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Burlington County, NJ.

1972 - Research Fellowship awarded by the faculty of the College of
   Arts and Sciences, University of Delaware, January.

1968 - NSF Traineeship awarded by the Chairman of the Biology Department
   of the University of Delaware.

1964 - First Place in Biology - New Jersey State Science Day Scholastic
   Competition held at Farleigh Dickinson University, Madison, NJ.
